Updated Scenes

Our Group has successfully re-shot the scenes that we felt did not fit with the video thematically when we first shot them.

We felt that this shot of Henry was taken from too far away, and did not match our style model of "I Feel So" by box car racer. Below are the new shots we took. As evident, these newer shots closely fit the style model. These shots will be used in rapid succession, and create an interesting aesthetic within the video.

The other shots we re-filmed were the close ups of the drummer. In our first shooting session we were constrained by time, which meant that we could only afford to shoot one or two takes; because of this, the shot did not turn out in the way we had planned - the shots did not frame the whole subject within them.

The new clips we filmed are below. These are framed better, and will be again used in quick succession.

Re-shooting guitarist scenes.

This is the original position of the guitarist in our video. The pose is good, although the actual shot needs re-doing. I will use this shot as a reference when it comes to the newer shots.
This image shows a shot from the music video for "I feel so" by box car racer. As a group we really like this shot, as it draw attention to the guitar as the main focus of the image. we will use this shot in the re-shoot.

This shot is of the bassist, but we will also use it for the guitarist shot.

Monday Meeting 19/1/2015

In the week commencing 19/1/2015, our group will accomplish the following tasks:

  • Liase with the music teacher to organise the use of the practice rooms. I will complete this task.
  • Organise and manage the time slot for the musicians so that we can film their close up. Rhya will be in charge of this.
  • Ensure costumes, props and actors are all available in the provided time slot. Max will be in charge of this.

Here are some screenshots showing the clips that need re-shooting. The reason they need re-shooting is because they are not of the professional standard our group demands, and in order to achieve a top band mark they need to look like a professional music video.

This shot of me playing the drums needs to be re-filmed because of the poor quality of the shot. The camera is too close to the subject, and the shot is filled with distractions in the background. The new shot we will film will have no distractions in the background, and will utilise the rule of thirds, and several different camera angles (example below) which can be swapped between to create interesting effects.

This shot will also be re filmed as it did not turn out as intended. The shot was supposed to be a birds eye view of the drummer, but the angle was incorrect and much of the subject was missed from the shot.

These two shots of the guitarist and the bassist both contain the same issues. Both shots are framed badly - there are many distractions in the background of the image, the rule of thirds is not utilised, and the camera cuts part of the subject out of the frame. These will be rectified when we re film the scenes.

Updated Filming Schedule 15/1/2015

Now that Mr Liddell has returned, we discussed with him the filming of our music video.

Our group still needs to film various bits and pieces for the video, and these are as following:

  • A shot of an as yet undecided character walking around the waterfront area in New Brighton.
  • Close up of the band playing parts of the song individually, both in the music rooms, the drama studio and on the promenade.
  • Small portions of the full band scene need to be filmed again, as various distractions were present in the video and are unable to be edited out.

Storyboard

Here is the part of the storyboard I have made, in order for us to organise the production and editing of the video.

The storyboard allows us to see which scenes still need filming, as we can drag in completed scenes and build up the video.
